Education and Employers are pleased to announce we will be working in a new funded partnership in 2025 with the Westminster Foundation to bring diverse role models from the world of work into primary schools in some of the more challenging areas of Westminster, Chester, Northwest Lancashire, and the Highlands.
Without intervention, children can form life-limiting career stereotypes too early in their lives, with their future aspirations governed by who and what they see around them in their early years of life. Through our past research with primary schools, only 1% of children have stated that they have had someone come into their schools to inspire them about their jobs.
We are thus delighted to be working on tackling this critical issue with the Westminster Foundation as they continue their focus on social mobility this coming year.
We will be engaging 15 primary schools across the geographical areas of the Grosvenor Estate and – working with local and national employer partners and volunteers – we will deliver a combination of in-person and virtual activities, aiming to reach several thousand primary aged students.
We are particularly excited to expose children to careers they wouldn’t always see in their immediate areas and to inspire them to consider careers of the future including AI and green technologies.
We have already engaged a number of interested schools across the Grosvenor Estate but any further schools in Westminster, Chester, rural Lancashire and the Highlands looking to join the project, please do contact lisa.clifford-james@educationandemployers.org – we would be delighted to work with you!
