Britain’s rich-poor divide also widened at a faster than average rate between 2007 and 2011 due to the global financial crisis, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The Paris-based thinktank ranked 36 developed nations on lifestyle factors such as incomes, education, housing and security for its Better Life Index.
