As we come to the end of another term and academic year, we look back on the apprenticeship work we have done with schools and colleges this year. At Inspiring the Future, we are passionate about ensuring that young people are aware of all the different route into a career.
In partnership with the National Apprenticeship Service via the Apprenticeship Support and Knowledge for Schools (ASK), we have worked with over 140,000 students this years to increase understanding of apprenticeships and help teachers prepare students for taking this route. We have worked with over 1,000 secondary schools, sixth forms, and colleges to help young people better understand apprenticeships, with 98% of schools recommending us to other schools.
Through the Inspiring the Future platform and our close work with employers, schools and colleges can invite volunteers who have experience of apprenticeships to talk to their students and volunteers who have apprentice experience can sign up as volunteers.
We have over 7,000 volunteers happy to speak to students about apprenticeships from current apprentices to those managing apprenticeships in their place of work. These volunteers could support all age groups from primary to secondary with a range of activities, from sharing insights via an assembly or classroom talk, doing a Q&A with students, or talking informally over a lunchtime event.
This year, we also ran an event with the Institute of Apprenticeships and Technical Education. Nearly 30 volunteers attended the event on Wednesday 10th July to raise the aspirations of the young people attending and to broaden their horizons. Discussing their career options, students asked the volunteers loads of interesting questions and received honest, informative responses from the dedicated volunteers.

In the next academic year, we will continue to help schools and colleges inform their students about apprenticeships via our Inspiring the Future apprenticeship volunteers.
